Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between You and Us for using Eating Buddy. Please read them; by installing or using the Application You accept them. If You do not agree, do not use the Application.
TL;DR
- Eating Buddy is a food and habits diary. It helps You notice patterns; it is not medical advice and does not replace a doctor, dietitian or therapist.
- The basic app is free. Premium is a paid subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play and managed there.
- Your diary is Yours. We only process it to provide the features You turn on.
- You can connect AI assistants such as ChatGPT or Claude to Your diary. They act under their own terms, and You can unlink them at any time.
- Be at least 13, use the app for Yourself, and do not try to break it or reach other people’s data.
Who We Are
Eating Buddy is operated by Sagital SRL, a company registered in Romania (referred to as “We”, “Us” or “Our”). You can reach Us at hello@eatingbuddy.app .
Definitions
Application means the Eating Buddy app for iPhone and Android, the website at eatingbuddy.app and the services behind them.
Diary means everything You log in the Application: meals, drinks, water, check-ins, workouts, sleep, moods, meal photos, tags, reasons, Your nickname and Your settings.
Premium means the paid subscription or purchase that unlocks additional features.
Connected Assistant means an AI assistant made by someone else, such as ChatGPT or Claude, that You link to Your Diary through the Application.
You means the person using the Application.
Who May Use the Application
You must be at least 13 years old. If You are under the age of digital consent where You live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for You. Use the Application for Yourself and keep Your account and devices secure.
The Service
The Application lets You keep a Diary, see insights and patterns computed from it, take part in challenges, and, with Premium, use additional features such as AI photo captions and account backup. The exact features vary by platform and version and are described in the Application and on this website.
We may add, change or remove features, and We may stop offering the Application altogether. If a change materially reduces what Premium gives You, You can cancel Your subscription as described below.
Premium and Payments
Premium is sold as an in-app purchase or subscription through Apple’s App Store or Google Play. The store You bought from handles payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds under its own terms, and We never see Your payment details.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the price shown at purchase until You cancel them in Your store account settings, at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Free trials convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless cancelled first. If We change prices, the new price applies from Your next renewal and the store will tell You in advance.
Refund requests go to the store You bought from. Where the law gives You a right of withdrawal, You keep it; please note that by starting to use Premium features immediately You may be asked to acknowledge that this right ends once the content has been delivered.
Your Diary and Your Content
Everything You put in Your Diary stays Yours. You give Us permission to store, copy and process it only as far as needed to provide the features You use, for example to back it up to Your account, to caption Your photos, or to answer a Connected Assistant’s questions. We never sell Your Diary and never use it for advertising. How We handle Your data is described in the Privacy Policy .
You are responsible for what You log and upload. Do not upload content that is unlawful, that belongs to someone else without their permission, or that shows other people without their consent.
Connected Assistants
You may link a Connected Assistant to Your Diary. Linking happens from the assistant: it shows a code, You enter and approve the code in the Application, and from then on the assistant can read and update Your Diary on Your behalf until You unlink it. Today assistants can only read; the permission You grant also covers updates, such as saving suggestions, when We make them available. You can see every linked assistant and unlink it at any time in the Application under Settings, AI assistants.
The assistant itself is made and run by its vendor, under the vendor’s terms and privacy policy, not Ours. We provide the assistant only with the parts of Your Diary it asks for, and only for Your own Diary.
Data a Connected Assistant has received is handled by its vendor under the vendor’s own terms and privacy policy. Unlinking the assistant stops further access; what it already holds follows the vendor’s rules.
Anyone who approves a code in Your Application links the assistant that requested that code to Your Diary. Only approve codes You see in Your own assistant.
Not Medical Advice
Eating Buddy describes what Your Diary shows. Nothing in the Application, in its insights, in challenges or in what a Connected Assistant tells You about Your Diary is medical, nutritional or psychological advice, and none of it is a substitute for a qualified professional. Do not use the Application to diagnose or treat a condition, to set calorie or weight targets without professional guidance, or in place of care You need. If You have or suspect an eating disorder, please talk to a doctor or a specialist.
Acceptable Use
Do not try to access data that is not Yours, interfere with the Application or its servers, send automated requests except through a Connected Assistant You linked, reverse engineer the Application beyond what the law allows, or use the Application to break the law or harm others. We may suspend or end Your access if You do.
Intellectual Property
The Application, its design, text, graphics and code belong to Us or Our licensors. We grant You a personal, non-transferable licence to install and use the Application on devices You own or control, for Your own use, in accordance with these terms and the store’s rules. You do not acquire any ownership of the Application.
Ending the Agreement
You may stop using the Application at any time by deleting it. You can delete Your account and everything backed up to it from inside the Application or as described at eatingbuddy.app/delete-account . We may end or suspend Your access if You breach these terms or if We stop offering the Application. Ending the agreement does not refund store purchases except as the store’s terms provide.
Disclaimer
The Application is provided as it is and as it is available. To the extent the law allows, We make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that insights will be accurate or complete. Insights and captions are computed automatically and can be wrong. Keep Your own records if they matter to You, for example with the export and backup features.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent the law allows, We are not liable for indirect losses, lost data where a backup was available to You, or losses arising from decisions about Your health, diet or exercise made on the basis of the Application or a Connected Assistant. Where liability cannot be excluded, Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount You paid Us for Premium in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer protection law gives You and that cannot be waived, including under the laws of Romania and the European Union if You live there.
Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Romania. If You are a consumer, this does not take away the protections that the law of the country where You live gives You and that cannot be waived. Disputes are heard by the competent courts in Romania, unless that law gives You the right to Your own courts.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms. The new version is posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. For changes that materially affect You We will also tell You in the Application. Continuing to use the Application after a change means You accept the new terms; if You do not, stop using the Application and cancel any subscription in Your store account.
